Shower Regrouting, Done Right

Cut out. Re-grout. Seal twice. Re-caulk. Shower tomorrow.

A shower regrout is surgery, not cleaning: oscillating blades remove the failed grout without touching the tile, joints get vacuumed and disinfected, fresh polymer-modified grout is packed full-depth, and after cure everything is sealed — then every corner and fixture gets new silicone. Done right, a Cromwell shower regrout lasts a decade plus. Done wrong (grout smeared over old grout), it fails in a year. We do it right, in one day, and show you depth checks as we go.

Cromwell notes

Builder-grade tub-shower combos from the 80s and 90s dominate: one-piece surrounds, plastic trim, grout-free but ugly. Homeowners keep the tub footprint and gain everything by tiling the walls properly. Most Cromwell shower regrouts finish same-day: Cromwell's 80s subdivisions are all hitting surround age at once — the same yellowed unit in fifty houses on one street. Shower again the next morning — we'll give you the exact hour.

  • Full-depth removal. Old grout cut to 2/3 joint depth minimum — never skimmed over.
  • Tile-safe tooling. Oscillating blades + vacuum; glazed and stone tile unharmed.
  • Polymer grout. Flexible, dense, mold-resistant joints packed full.
  • Double seal. Penetrating sealer, cured, then sealed again.
  • Full re-caulk. Corners, tub/pan lines, fixtures — fresh 100% silicone.
  • Depth checks shown. We prove removal depth before grouting. Ask to see.

FAQ

Common questions

How deep do you cut the old grout?

Minimum two-thirds joint depth, full depth where damage runs deep — verified visually before new grout goes in. Skim-coating old grout fails within a year; we don't do it.

Is it dusty or messy?

Remarkably clean: dust-controlled cutters, vacuum at the joint, drop cloths throughout. Quieter than a hair dryer for most of the day.

Sanded or unsanded grout?

Joints over 1/8 inch get sanded polymer; hairlines and polished stone get unsanded. We match to your tile, not to our inventory.

Some tiles sound hollow — problem?

Possibly. A few hollow accent tiles can be re-bedded during regrouting; widespread hollowness means bond failure and needs re-tiling. We map it free and show you.
